Cheyenne is a member of Bear River First Nation in Mi’kmaq Nation. She is a Masters-prepared Registered Nurse, certified in community health nursing, with over 17 years of experience. She is a Dalhousie University and Lakehead University alumna. She has worked almost exclusively with Indigenous communities in various roles from community nursing, to not-for-profit work, public service, and academia. For the past seven years, she has been a faculty member at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). Her courses are focused on community health, Indigenous wellness and health equity. Cheyenne is deeply connected to her Mi’kmaq heritage through Elders, ceremonies and cultural events, with an eye to curating a better future for the next seven generations.
